What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep. Local storage is a similar mechanism that holds data on your device but is never automatically sent with requests. This site uses both, and the table below covers every item.
What this site stores
Strictly necessary (always active)
These are set by us, stored in your browser’s local storage, and never transmitted anywhere. They cannot be switched off because they exist only to remember choices you made.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
calcenta-consent-v1 | Remembers your cookie choice so you are not asked on every page. | Until cleared |
calcenta-theme | Remembers whether you chose the light, dark, or system theme. | Until cleared |
calcenta-currency | Remembers the currency you selected on the finance calculators. | Until cleared |
Advertising (consent required in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland)
Set by Google and its advertising partners when you accept advertising cookies. These fund the site.
| Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdSense | Selects and measures advertisements, limits how often you see the same ad, and detects invalid traffic. | Up to 24 months |
| Google DoubleClick | Measures ad performance and, with consent, personalizes advertising. | Up to 24 months |
Analytics (consent required)
| Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Aggregate reporting on which pages are visited and how people arrive, if enabled. | Up to 14 months |
Our own analytics (no cookie)
We count page views on our own server without setting any cookie. To distinguish visitors from raw page loads we derive a one-way hash of your IP address, user-agent, and the current date, salted with a secret key. The IP address itself is never stored, the hash cannot be reversed, and because the date is part of the input it changes every midnight - so it cannot follow you across days or build a profile.
We also record what people type into the site search, along with how many tools matched, so we can see which calculators are missing. Search terms are stored with no visitor code attached.
Because none of this sets a cookie or creates a persistent identifier, there is nothing here to consent to. It runs whatever you choose in the banner.
Changing your choices
Use the Manage cookies link in the footer of any page to reopen the consent banner and change your decision. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of personalized advertising across all Google properties at Google My Ad Center.
Declining advertising cookies does not restrict any calculator on this site. You may still see advertising, but it will not be personalized.
