Grams to Pounds Converter

A pound is exactly 453.59237 grams, so:

pounds = grams ÷ 453.59237

That is the same definition behind every weight conversion here — the 1959 agreement pinned the pound to the kilogram, and a gram is a thousandth of a kilogram.

The useful anchor is that 454 g is one pound, near enough for anything outside a laboratory. It is why American butter comes in 1 lb boxes that European recipes describe as "about 450 g", and why a US "pound cake" translates to a 454 g recipe.
