Square Meters to Square Feet Converter

The factor is 3.28084 squared. It is worth internalising as "about 10.8", because the common error is to use the linear factor of 3.28 and end up a third of the way to the right answer.

Flooring is the case where precision pays. Materials are sold by the square metre in Europe and by the square foot or by the box in North America, and boxes cover an odd area — often 20–24 sq ft. Rounding the conversion first and the waste second is how people end up one box short with a discontinued batch.
